When our children were growing up, some of their very special friends wormed their way into our hearts and our life. One very special young lady was Sonia, our daughter Brianna’s very best friend throughout high school and beyond. We couldn’t love Sonia more, if she was our own! This young lady spreads joy and happiness wherever she goes. Her comfort zone knows no limits — she is equally at ease with the elderly, the young or the disabled. She is caring, loving and sincere. She knows when to listen and how to comfort, and does it with such ease.
Today, Sonia graduated from Bellingham Technical College’s Nursing Program! She may have let a “B” sneak in there, but you better believe it was rare — this girl put her heart and soul into her classes and clinicals and her grades showed it. We are so proud of her. She will make an amazing nurse. I’ve already had a preview! When I was first diagnoised with breast cancer, it was Sonia who both calmed, and educated me. As busy as she has been in her studies, she has found the time to regularly check in with me– to listen, to share, to laugh, to encourage and to celebrate!
When Bruce & I were in New Orleans for my first reconstruction surgery we were gone for a week and didn’t return home until late Thanksgiving morning. In the days previous, Sonia had done all the necessary shopping; included all three of my children with disabilities in making pies; and then arrived early on Thanksgiving morning to begin cooking the big meal for 17 people! I tell you, the girl is amazing!

Congrats from some young fans!
Congratulations Nurse Sonia!!
