I’m all about downsizing these days … simplifying … spending less. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to consider some alternatives to the commercial products so widely available. So in today’s blog I want to share some inexpensive and creative ideas that will not only emphasize your feelings of love but also showcase your talents. If you haven’t visited instructable.com, then you’re in for a treat!
Cards are very traditional but why not bypass Hallmark this year for something that’s more unique? Can’t you hear it right now, “Ah, honey, this is so sweet!”
Surprise, surprise! Who would have thunk that you could easily and quickly create a Pop Up Valentine’s card using nothing more than a couple of post-it notes and scissors?
Or for those who would like to try their hand at origami, here’s a very impressive heart shape that can be dual purpose — card and bookmark. With step-by-step instructions, you’ll be a pro in no time!
Next to cards, flowers take a close second. Resist a quick stop at the florist, and prepare to swoop your love off her feet with one of these arrangements.

Very impressive, indeed! And if your special someone is watching their diet, the Edible Fruit Bouquet is just the ticket!
But for many, Valentine’s Day would not be complete with out chocolate or, at least, a special desert.
Now this is an Enchilada guaranteed to please your chocolate lover!
And certainly homemade ice cream bon bons would be impressive!
Pancakes for your sweetie!
No excuses! Even those of you with little time and skill can make these microwave Cuppa Cakes.
This year give a “gift from the heart.”
